GE Power Generation Provides Power Solutions
For decades, many have relied on GE power generation for their power production needs. GE, or General Electric, produces what many consider to be reliable GE Turbines that have supplied power to plants both large and small. Through GE power generation, plants in places where the weather is constantly inclement and where it is difficult for mechanics and engineers to access have been able to produce dependable power thanks to these turbines.
One type of generator that produced by GE is the GE LM6000. It is used for industrial GE power generation as well as marine propulsion. It has a dual motor and a direct drive gas turbine. With an 18 percent boost in energy exhaust and a 25 percent simple-cycle power increase, it is not only reliable, has an added bonus of producing low emissions as well. Another feature about the LM6000 is that it has 54,610 shaft horsepower located on the ends of the low-pressure rotor system, which rotates at 3,600 rpm. It has a twin spool design and the ability to operate at 60 Hz, which makes it efficient and negates the need for a conventional power turbine. Plus, it has superior installation flexibility, meaning that it is also cost-effective because of the reduced time it will take to install it.
Another example of GE power generation is the GE LM2500. It has an efficient power thrust and can deliver up to 33,600 shaft horsepower and a 37 percent thermal efficiency at ISO conditions. GE power generation like this is capable of powering some of the most sophisticated marine vessels in the world today. U.S. Navy warships, cruise ships, hovercrafts, hydrofoils and fast ferries usually have the LM2500 producing power for them. Housed in a shock-resistant, thermal-acoustic enclosure, the LM2500's noise level was dramatically reduced. Also, if there are any icing or fires, it has built in sensors that will detect them before any danger occurs. Their simple and modular design also makes them easy to install and practical in every sense of the word. Over 1,000 of these types of GE power generation machines have been in service since 2004.
