By extracting thermal energy from pressurized steam, the steam turbine generator sets produce power by converting the steam to a rotary motion. Its interior consists of several sets of blades (also known as buckets). One set of stationary blades is connected to the casing while the other set connects to the shaft. The mesh internally within a clearance, and the size and configuration of sets vary to exploit the steam's expansion.
There are several classifications for the modern stream turbine generator sets. There is condensing, non-condensing, reheat, extraction and induction classifications for steam turbine generator sets.
